Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, voted YES on the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Within the legislation, Senator Mullin advocated for Oklahoma’s premier military bases and helped secure an abundance of wins for the state’s installations —totaling $670.3 million dollars for the Sooner State.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to represent Oklahoma and the many world-class military installations we have in our state. While serving on the Senate Armed Services Committee, I’m grateful to be able to fight for our bases and the future of Oklahoma’s defense capabilities. Oklahoma is vital to maintaining our military’s readiness and lethality,” said Senator Mullin. “The NDAA is a monumental step towards reforming the Pentagon and ensuring our servicemembers have the technology and weapons they need to face tomorrow’s challenges head-on. I’m proud the Senate pushed it across the finish line.”

The FY26 NDAA is not just full of wins for our military, it’s also full of wins for Oklahoma. Tinker Air Force Base will be authorized $497,000,000 for acquiring property and base construction and has extended FY23 authorized projects by $30,000,000. The Senate has also authorized funding for hangar construction, a childhood development center, and a squadron operations center at Tinker, totaling $79,000,000. 

McAlester Army Ammunition Plant will also be authorized $55,000,000 for the ammunition demolition shop. 

Senator Mullin championed the following victories included in the FY2026 NDAA:

1. $5M for Future Radio Frequency Digital Array Technology Development and Demonstration for Oklahoma University’s Advanced Radar Research Center.
2. $10M for Power Generation within the Operational Energy Capability Improvement Program.
3. $3M for Human-Artificial Intelligence Teaming within Cyberspace Activities-Cybersecurity for the University of Tulsa.
4. $100M for expanding the National Guard Counter-Drug Program.
5. $10M for Project Pele, an effort to design, build, and demonstrate a prototype mobile micro nuclear fission reactor.
6. Incentivizes the Navy to pursue and prioritize acquisition of cost-effective commercially developed autonomous maritime systems to improve lethality of our fleet in complex environments like the Pacific.
7. Establishes a data-driven approach to Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) to increase affordability and quality-of-life for servicemembers.
8. Forms a Small-UAS Industrial Base Working Group that will assess the capacity of the sUAS industrial base and make recommendations about strategic investments and resourcing.
9. Provisions to ensure that modification or consolidation of Geographic Combatant Commands is carried out in a way that maintains our strength in the modern threat environment.
10. Improves the health of our troops by providing access to sports foods and third-party certified dietary supplements for members of the United States Special Operations Command.
11. Establishes a new pilot program to use CUAS to protect our military facilities from drone threats.
12. Additional provisions to protect assets from Unmanned Aircraft.
