Ponca City, O.K. – Today, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) had lunch with Ponca City local leaders at the Standing Bear Park Museum and Education Center. While in town as part of a busy in-state tour, Senator Mullin spoke with 24 local leaders, including Ponca City Mayor Kelsey Wagner, City Manager Craig Stephenson, Phillips 66 Plant Manager Jim Baron, Interim Ponca City Hospital CEO Mark Angus, and Ponca City Schools Superintendent Adam Leaming.
During a productive 90-minute meeting, Senator Mullin sharing a few updates from Washington, D.C., including on the current partial government shutdown, workforce development, federal grant assistance, agriculture challenges, and rural health care. The Senator also highlighted the city’s success in securing $7.8 million in federal funding for a new airport terminal which President Trump signed into law this year.
“I’m glad we were able to secure funding for Ponca City in President Trump’s Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (THUD) bill,” said Senator Mullin. “These funds will be used for a new airport terminal at Ponca City Regional Airport—a much needed upgrade to the local community infrastructure. Taxpayer dollars are best spent closer to home and out of the hands of Washington, D.C., and I will always fight to bring more resources home to our state. I greatly appreciate the chance to be back in Ponca City today and look forward to our next meeting.”
