Washington, D.C. – This week, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, took the time to meet with 18 Oklahoma veterans who visited the nation’s capital as part of a Brookshire Grocery Company Heroes Flight. The Senator spoke with the group at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
In 2010, the Brookshire Grocery Company embarked on their first mission to escort a group of World War II veterans to Washington, D,C, to visit the WWII Memorial. To date, over 500 veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the War on Terror have made the all-expense-paid trip to see the memorials dedicated to their service.
“We can never thank these American heroes enough for their service,” said Senator Mullin. “It was a joy to meet Oklahoma’s finest at the Vietnam Memorial, hear their stories, and remind our veteran community just how grateful we are for their willingness to sacrifice so much to protect our great country. My first trip to Washington, D.C. was on an Honor Flight with my grandfather, who served in WWII, so these visits hold a very special place in my heart.”
